There is a need for international investigation into the use of a banned weapon in Nagorno-Karabakh, French Senator Guillaume Gontard said during discussions on the initiative to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh in the French Senate.
The senator recalled that Azerbaijan, taking advantage of Turkey’s support and the situation regardin the pandemic, launched an aggression. He also emphasized that Lachin is important for Armenia since it serves as a link to Artsakh and declared that Turkey and Azerbaijan are trying to establish a common border.
“The status of Nagorno-Karabakh is of pivotal significance. We protect the right of nations to self-determination. It would be nice to initiate a process of self-determination of Nagorno-Karabakh, but from the perspective of priority, what is important is the French government’s recognition of Artsakh and the use of this factor as a long-term tool,” Guillaume Gontard said.
