In the Church of England appeared dark-skinned Christ

In the Cathedral of St. Alban in the English city of St. Albans, a picture of the Last Supper appeared on the altar, in which Jesus Christ is depicted as dark-skinned, writes the Daily Telegraph.

The main priest of the church, Jeffrey John, agreed to hang the picture after pressure from activists of the Black Lives Matter movement, reports BBC.

“The church does not have such a strong position in regard to the instruction of others in matters of justice, including racial one. But our faith teaches us that we are all created equal in the image of God, this is the justice of God. The lives of blacks are important, and so we altered the persecuted altar into a place for reflection and prayer, where this picture is central, ”he said.

Earlier, the head of the Church of England promised to reconsider the image of Christ as a white man.
