Unacceptable statement and stance by Nikol Pashinyan: «People of Karabakh will gain nothing from returning there»

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is renounceing the rights provided to Armenia and the Armenian people by the international community.

We can say that we are taking on the agenda of returning the people of Karabakh. But who will benefit from that? Will the people of Karabakh benefit from it? Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told this to a press briefing Thursday.

Pashinyan pointed out the need to learn lessons and to draw conclusions from mistakes. “That means condemning them to an eternal refugee status, not knowing where they will live, is there an address or not. I am saying yes, there is, that address is Armenia, with its internationally recognized sovereign territory,” he said.

Also, the Armenian premier raised a rhetorical question about what the International Court’s decision—which required Azerbaijan to ensure the safe return of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh—has actually resulted in, for which the whole Armenian nation rejoiced.

Also, he noted that lessons have not been learned again and that there have been various agreements, decisions of various courts, but the Armenians have abandoned that path because it would condemn the people of Karabakh to an eternal refugee status.

In addition, he called on displaced Karabakh Armenians to accept Armenian citizenship. “We are not going to put the fate of an entire people and state in doubt so that a few specialists will have jobs. We have abandoned that path. As a result, we have transformed from a disabled state into a complete state,” Nikol Pashinyan concluded.
